Weather Spotter Training 2017

Weather Spotter Training

The Stephenson County Emergency Management Agency is teaming up with the National Weather Service to host a Weather Spotter Training class on March 2, 2017.

National Weather Service Spotter Training Flyer 2017

Come to this year's National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training and learn the structure and movement of severe storms, how to identify important storm features, and how to stay safe during severe weather.

Each year, the community gathers to learn the ins and outs of severe weather hazards and what they can do to help keep our community safe. In the past, this class has attracted a number of community leaders, public officials, and news stations from all over the region.

The National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training will be held at Highland Community College on Thursday, March 2, 2017. The class will run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Registration will begin at 6:00pm. As always, this event is FREE and open to the public. We encourage your attendance each year and new faces are always welcome!

Completion of this class allows you to become a certified Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service (NWS) Quad Cities' office.

If you have completed the National Weather Service Weather Spotter Training and would like to be a part of the Stephenson County Skynet Weather Spotter Program, join us for our March 2017 meetings!

The Stephenson County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting the yearly Skynet meetings on March 4th and March 11th this year. Meetings are held in the Conference Room at 295 W. Lamm Road, Freeport, and will begin at 9:00am and run to approximately 12:00pm.

Volunteers Wanted!
Without volunteers, this world would be a very different place. Anywhere you go, stories of the kindness and generosity of everyday people reaching out to help others can be heard.Be a volunteer in your community. Every person has a skill that can be offered during an emergency, and you never know whose lives you might be helping in doing so.
